Stuart’s Story

Stuart Shelby Smith was born on January 27, 1991 to Rai and Clark Smith. He joined his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ on Monday, November 9, 2015.

Stuart graduated from Canton Academy where he played baseball and football. In addition to other honors, he was voted Mr. C.A., an accomplishment which he highly boasted about in his college years. Stuart loved all things Canton Academy. He loved his time in school there and continued looking for ways to stay involved in the school community, even after he graduated.

Stuart continued his education at Mississippi State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Stuart loved cheering for the Bulldogs. There was never a football game that you wouldn’t see his smiling face, cheering and beaming with pride in the student section with all of his friends.

And what a great friend Stuart was. His infectious smile and vibrant personality attracted everyone to him. He exemplified what it meant to be a Christian and love at all times.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved baseball, hunting, fishing and golf. Everyone who knew him was aware of his passion for music. And what a passion it was.

Stuart is greatly missed by all of his family, friends and neighbors who feel so blessed and honored to have known and had him in their lives. Stuart Smith greatly touched every single life he encountered.

The goal of the Stuart Smith Memorial Scholarship is to benefit other Madison County students and The American Society for Suicide Prevention.
